The Malware-Lab is part of the Cyber Security Research Center (CSRC) at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), Israel. It was established by Dr. Nir Nissim, a lecturer in the Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) Department of BGU, after recognizing a gap and real need for such a lab among the international scientific machine learning and cyber security communities. The Malware-Lab serves as a unique platform for advanced malware research and supported also by the Israeli Cyber Security Bureau. The Malware-Lab is an academic and professional enabler for researchers from academia and industry interested in conducting comprehensive research on various types of malware. The Malware Lab also enables researchers to investigate new detection approaches and compare their new methods with existing tools and the detection approaches developed by the Malware Lab’s research teams. The Malware Lab addresses a variety of malware types including: executable files, worms, viruses, ransomware, malicious documents, malicious images, and malicious firmware updates, etc. The Malware Lab investigates malware in a variety of platforms such as: PCs, servers, private clouds, virtual machines, mobile devices (Android, IOS), USB devices (mouse, keyboards, flash drives, speakers, etc.), Medical devices and Medical data and IoT devices.
